Join Saratoga Sailing Club
Saratoga Sailing Club (SSC) welcomes new members from the NSW Central Coast and surrounds. We are a small, active and growing local club providing several types of membership to suit all needs.
Feel free to visit us on a Sunday during the sailing season to have a look round, or contact us to arrange a time.
Membership
We offer the following types of membership:
- Casual Sailing (via an Australian Sailing SailPass)
- Senior Sailing
- Junior Sailing
- Associate/Non-Sailing
If you are a new sailor it isn't necessary to own your own boat as the Club often has spare craft kept at the clubhouse for casual member use or can arrange a crew position on the larger boats. However, you are most welcome to bring along your own boat and join in the Sunday racing regatta.
Joining SSC requires the submission of an on-line registration form and payment of membership fees via a separate website (RevSport) hosted by Australian Sailing (button below). in accordance with our constitution, membership applications are considered by the management committee at a monthly committee meeting. The committee will consider all applicants equally alongside fee payments, and any objections raised by existing members. Until formal approval, the committee will usually allow applicants to participate in club activities as a guest member.
Membership of the Saratoga Sailing Club offers you:
- Benefits associated with the club's affiliation with Australian Sailing, including an AS number and personal accident insurance
- Friendly racing, with interesting and varied courses for Hartley TS16s, Mixed Fleet, A-Class Cats and Windsurfers
- Easy launching and retrieval of boats
- Off-the-beach and trailable yachts are welcome (most trailables are launched over the sand at the Club or we use the nearby Saratoga public ramp in Centennial Avenue)
- Attractive fee structure
- Canteen facilities on race days and best view of the bay
- Liquor licence (see below)
- Boat storage (where space is available, by application and subject to storage fees)
- Active, friendly social program and great camaraderie amongst members
Club members are encouraged to participate fully in all Club activities, including the operation of the Club racing program and start boat or club inflatable.
Membership General Terms
The refund policy and membership is governed by the terms set out in the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). This web site prominently states the total minimum price payable for membership and related services offerings, in accordance with section 48 of the Australian Consumer Law. Membership is made up of three components of which the base membership fee is the only fee payable if you are not racing or storing a boat. The base membership fee is charged annually on October 1st each year.
Racing fees are made up of two components, either casual, paid on a race to race basis, or a season fee. The season fee is charged annually on October 1st each year.
Storage fees are made up of two components depending on the type of boat stored in the club and may be adjusted for boats stored externally on club premises. The storage fee is charged annually on October 1st each year and may be adjusted if out of season storage is required prior to the annual renewal.
The Saratoga Sailing Club membership is at the discretion of the committee and is set, approved or rejected at the first available committee meeting. Members have redress through mediation or arbitration if their membership is declined. Members, who resign in writing during the season may request a pro-rata refund of the unused portion of the annual membership fee or may donate the balance of the unused portion to the club. If you are not happy with your membership you should discuss any dissatisfaction with the Secretary of the club or contact us using the online form. A representative of the committee will be personally assigned to you and assist in resolving any problems.
Delivery of membership:
The club does not issue membership cards currently due to the small size of the club and the fact that members are generally known to either committee or have been introduced by other club members. New members will be contacted within 7 days of a Committee meeting to advise the outcome of your application and a letter will be sent. Membership applications, renewals, race fees and boat storage are all acknowledged by e-mail on submission of the required form and payments.
Acknowledgement and compliance with RSA directions:
The club has limited Liquor licence facilities and operates a family and pet-friendly facility. Members and guests, on Saratoga club grounds, must agree to abide by the on-duty RSA officers directions, should such direction be given by any of our on-duty RSA officers. Our RSA trained officers have full autonomy to make decisions about the bar operations and patrons behaviour related to the consumption of alcohol (see also Liquor and Gaming NSW).
If you require any further information or wish to discuss any matters relating to the Clubs operation please contact us.
The button will open our membership registration page a new window (or click this link: https://www.revolutionise.com.au/saratogasc/registration/). You will need to register as New Member with Australian Sailing before processing the application form, unless you already have an Australian Sailing Number from another Club, in which case you can register as a Returning Member.
